LAG Gagauz Koraflari

(Baurci, Besalma, Chirsova, Ferapontievca, Gaidar, Tomai – approx. 31 000 inhabitants)

Supported by the Programme “Support for Agriculture and Rural Development in ATU Gagauzia and Taraclia” (SARD), funded by the European Union, implemented by the UNDP.

As there are many craftsmen on this LAG’s territory and the circumstances of organizing educational workshops are favourable, many inherited
occupations, such as the confection of traditional costumes or carpet weaving, can be revived. Each settlement has a representative cultural ensembleGagauzian, Bulgarian and Ukrainian. Tomai village is well-developed in terms of agriculture, service and product sectors. Such important happenings,as the traditional festival “Covorul Gagauz” in Gaidar or The Wine Festival in Tomai, as well as some important representative products are well-acquainted and appreciated in the country.
